While pop icon Britney Spears was shocking the world with her outrageous outfits during her highly acclaimed Circus tour, someone was taking notes. The Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ held a grand reopening to unveil their new skimpy 1920′s inspired “flapper costumes” (which consequently got them sued by female cocktail waitresses after getting fired for not being “sexy enough to wear them”) and announced it will also host a nightly adults-only Naked Circus in a parking lot tent starting July 4th, holiday weekend. It will be one of three daily circuses that the Resorts will host.
“It’ll be as naked as the law allows,” said Resorts co-owner Dennis Gomes. His son, Aaron Gomes, said the female performers will wear pasties and G-strings.
Funny, and I thought circus costumes were skimpy enough these days. In the eyes of the Resorts Casino management, less is definitely more!
Atlantic City is the second-largest gambling market in the U.S. after Las Vegas, Nevada. The idea of a Naked Circus seems to be a desperate attempt at bringing back business to the Resorts since they reported a $5.3 million loss on the first quarter of this year.
Well, if the west coast has Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity, then it is only fitting that the east coast have the Naked Circus.
