Madonna & Cirque at Super Bowl XLVI
Madonna & Cirque du Soleil will collaborate for the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI, according to a joint statement released by the NFL and NBC. Madonna’s long-time creative director Jamie King will “imagine” the circus choreography to fit the singer’s list of hits, according to MTV News. Last year’s Super Bowl spectacle featured The Black Eyed Peas with former Guns & Roses guitarist Slash and R & B singer Usher. It reached at least 162 million captive football fans in the United States alone.
Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, seems to coincide with Madonna’s next project: an untitled collaboration with producer William Orbit (Ray of Light album) with at least one of the album’s new tracks featuring rappers M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj. That first single is rumored to drop in February and the singer’s feature-length directorial debut ”W.E.” arrives in theaters just two days before the show. ■
